How to identify this generation

What to notice in the specifications

  • Titleist’s table runs from the 1-iron to PW (10 clubs) with D2 swing weights, offsets from .179 in to .092 in and a 9-iron at 44.5°.
  • DCI 990B lists the same lofts, lies and lengths for every club; its page prints smaller offsets (.158–.080 in) and different bounce.
  • Titleist publishes the same lofts, lies and lengths for DCI 990B (2000–2002), a different head.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.

Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
