How to identify this generation

  • Check the MB marking on the solid back and the 716 generation code on the hosel.

What to notice in the specifications

  • The manufacturer lists 3–P for MB, while the 716 CB chart also includes a 2-iron. Do not add an unsupported MB 2-iron row.
  • The P row is shown here as PW. It measures 35.75 inches in the published build, shorter than the 36-inch 9-iron.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.

Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
