How to identify this generation
- An orange X HOT badge sits at the lower toe of a black-framed cavity, next to a Callaway chevron logo.
- Callaway reuses family names across years (Apex, Big Bertha, Rogue, X Forged), so match the year-specific markings and photo as well as the lofts.
What to notice in the specifications
- Callaway’s live site no longer serves this data to automated requests; the figures come from an Internet Archive capture of Callaway’s US specification panel dated 2014-12-28.
- Callaway publishes the same lofts, lies and lengths for Callaway XR irons (2015). The heads differ, so use the markings and photo rather than these numbers to tell them apart.
- Callaway also lists a women’s build (36 in 7-iron) with the same lofts and lies.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
