How to identify this generation
- Look for AP1 and 716 markings and compare the finish and cavity with Titleist's page.
- The page shows chrome and a limited smoke finish; finish alone is not a specification chart.
What to notice in the specifications
- The 7-iron is 2° stronger than the AP1 712 standard chart.
- Titleist lists P, W and W2 at 43°, 47° and 52°.
- A listed 3-iron is marked with an asterisk on the source; do not assume it came in a retail set.
What the chart cannot tell you
A loft figure alone does not predict carry distance or determine a suitable fit. Head design, shaft, strike, swing speed and delivery also matter. Check actual loft and lie with a qualified fitter when a used set's history is uncertain.
