How to identify this generation
- A chrome cavity with a black carbon-textured insert, a small Qi logo low toward the toe, TaylorMade lettering on the upper back and a thin silver line running toward the heel.
- The Qi name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: Qi HL (2024 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- Lies and lengths match TaylorMade’s 2021 custom component booklet table for the SIM2 Max club for club from 4-iron to LW; the lofts are stronger from 4-iron to PW (7-iron 28° against 28.5°).
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
