How to identify this generation
- A satin-and-chrome hollow head with P·790 in black toward the heel, TUNGSTEN lettering above it, a T logo low toward the toe and a plain sloping back.
- The P-Series name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: P750, P770, P790 (2017 archive edition); P760 (2018 archive edition); P7TW, P790, P790 Ti (2019 archive edition); P790 (2021 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- TaylorMade’s 2019 and 2021 P790 sheets list exactly the same lofts, lies and lengths.
- The sheet’s women’s length row is 1 in shorter than the men’s row for every club.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
