How to identify this generation

  • A dark panel with three weight screws and TUNGSTEN lettering sits at the upper toe, a PXG logo and a large round weight port fill the middle of the back, two more screws sit on a panel by the heel and the hosel reads 0311P GEN5 5X FORGED/MILLED.
  • The 0311 name also appears on these PXG irons; compare their markings before using this chart: 0311 P GEN7, 0311 P GEN8 (2026 US page); 0311 P GEN6, 0311 XP GEN6 (GEN6); 0311 XP GEN7 (GEN7); 0311 XP GEN8, 0311 T GEN8 (GEN8).

What to notice in the specifications

  • PXG labels the wedges “W”, “G”; they are shown as PW, GW here so they line up with other sets.
  • PXG publishes the same loft, lie and length table for 0311 P GEN6, 0311 P GEN7 and 0311 P GEN8; the generation is printed on the hosel.
  • The archived page is the chrome finish listing (IR-PXG28-CHR); its navigation and model selector also list a 0311 P GEN5 Xtreme Dark finish (IR-PXG28-BLK), whose own listing was not captured.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.

Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
