Identifying the right model

  • The black sole shows a large grey PING wordmark and a yellow G430 badge near the heel; check for the SFT marking, because the G430 MAX sole looks similar.
  • Match the full model name and any suffix (MAX, LST, SFT, HL, Stretch) on the head as well as the printed loft.

What to check before using the reference

  • The table gives the standard setting of each head. PING lists ±1.5° of loft adjustability, so the hosel setting on a used club can change its loft and lie from these values.
  • PING also sells a lighter G430 SFT HL version with the same loft options; its page lists 10.5°: head weight 190 g (standard 200 g), lie 58° (standard 58.5°), swing weight C8 (standard C9). Check for the HL marking or build label before using the standard values above.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
