How to identify this generation

  • Adams’ photo shows a single Super S iron from the back: a chrome head with a red-and-white SUPER S badge across the cavity, IDEA lettering on the toe side and a dark lower bar.
  • The Idea name also appears on these Adams irons; compare their markings before using this chart: Idea a3OS, Idea a3 (2008 US page); Idea a7 (2011 US page); Idea CMB (2012 US page).

What to notice in the specifications

  • Adams calls the set the Idea Super S Hybrid Irons and lists Matrix Kujoh 75 for the hybrids beside KBS Tour 90 steel or Matrix Kujoh 85 graphite for the irons; the 3 and 4 carry 57° lies and no hybrid label on the page, so they stay in the table as printed.
  • The GW, SW and LW lies are printed as 63.25°, 63.5° and 63.25°, and are kept as published.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.

Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
