How to identify this generation
- A 5-iron muscle back with a Titleist script over FORGED in the centre and a small T stamped low near the toe where the 681 Forged Blade carries 681.
- The 681 name also appears on these Titleist irons; compare their markings before using this chart: 681 Forged Blade (2001–2002).
What to notice in the specifications
- Titleist’s table runs from the 2-iron to a 49° PW with D3 swing weights and prints no offset or bounce rows.
- Lies climb to 65° on the 9-iron and PW, 1.5° more upright than the 681 Forged Blade’s 63° and 63.5°.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
