How to identify this generation
- A 5-iron muscle back with a Titleist script over FORGED in the centre of the back and 681 stamped low near the toe.
- The 681 name also appears on these Titleist irons; compare their markings before using this chart: 681 “T” Forged (2001).
What to notice in the specifications
- Titleist’s table runs from the 1-iron (39.75 in, 17°) to a 49° PW with D2 swing weights, .080 in offset from the 2-iron down and bounce from 2° to 7°.
- The 1-iron is marked ** on the page with no printed footnote, and its offset and bounce cells show X.
- The 681 “T” Forged page lists a different 2-iron to PW table (36° 7-iron at 63°, 65° lies on the 9-iron and PW).
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
