How to identify this generation
- A chrome cavity with a blue-trimmed black insert carrying a SIM MAX badge toward the toe, a diagonal chrome bar lettered SPEED BRIDGE and TaylorMade lettering high toward the heel.
- The SIM name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: SIM Max OS (2020 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- TaylorMade’s 2021 custom component booklet lists exactly the same lofts, lies and lengths for the SIM2 Max irons.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
