How to identify this generation
- A compact forged head with a red crest and RSi TP badge toward the toe and FORGED lettering on the upper band.
- The RSi name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: RSi 1, RSi 2 (2015 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- TaylorMade calls it a forged tour iron with Face Slot technology.
- TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred MC (2011) sheet lists exactly the same lofts, lies and lengths for a different head.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
