How to identify this generation
- A chrome muscle back with two textured pockets, one high toward the toe and one low toward the heel, a dotted arc with a small red mark above a lowercase rac logo between them, and TaylorMade lettering under the toe pocket.
- The rac name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: rac Forged TP, rac OS, rac LT (2004 archive edition); rac TP MB (2006 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- The sheet lists a 17° 1-iron and right- and left-hand models.
- TaylorMade’s rac TP MB (2006) sheet lists the same lofts and lies from 2-iron to PW; its lengths differ (2-iron: 38.75 in).
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
