How to identify this generation
- A lowercase ping wordmark sits above a gold-toned cavity panel with a G Le3 badge.
What to notice in the specifications
- Lie angles are PING’s standard specification. PING fits lie angle with a colour-coded dot, so check the dot on a used PING iron against PING’s colour code chart before assuming these lies.
- The table shows standard lofts. PING also lists Power Spec (28.5° 7-iron, 44.5° PW) and Retro Spec (30.5° 7-iron, 47.5° PW) as alternative factory loft builds, so a used set may not match the standard column.
- PING’s table also lists 4-hybrid, 5-hybrid, 6-hybrid, 7-hybrid heads; this reference keeps only the iron rows. The hybrids need their own specifications.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
