How to identify this generation
- A hollow, hybrid-shaped chrome head with Tour Edge HOT LAUNCH on a black panel at the toe end, a yellow stripe across the middle, HOUDINI SOLE along the toe-side rail, X525 and the club number on a black panel near the heel and IRONWOOD lettered down the hosel.
- The Hot Launch name also appears on these Tour Edge irons; compare their markings before using this chart: Hot Launch E525 (2026 US page).
What to notice in the specifications
- Tour Edge’s Hot Launch Max D Ironwoods reference lists the same lofts from the 20° 4-iron to the 38° 9-iron; the X525 is a different hollow-body head.
- The listing’s table also gives offsets from 4.5 mm (4- to 6-iron) to 1.5 mm (AW).
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
