How to identify this generation
- A shallow cavity with a dark textured panel around a hexagonal weight port, MC on the toe side and FORGED on the heel side.
- The Tour Preferred name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: Tour Preferred (2008 archive edition); Tour Preferred MB, Tour Preferred CB (2011 archive edition); Tour Preferred CB, Tour Preferred MB, Tour Preferred MC (2014 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- TaylorMade’s RSi TP (2015) sheet lists exactly the same lofts, lies and lengths for a different head.
- TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred MC (2014) sheet lists the same lofts and lies from 3-iron to PW.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
