How to identify this generation
- A plain muscle back with TaylorMade lettering high, TOUR PREFERRED low toward the toe and MB at the heel end.
- The Tour Preferred name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: Tour Preferred (2008 archive edition); Tour Preferred MB, Tour Preferred MC, Tour Preferred CB (2011 archive edition); Tour Preferred CB, Tour Preferred MC (2014 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- The sheet prints the 8-iron length as 35.25 in, a full inch below the half-inch steps of the other clubs, while the 2014 MC and CB sheets give 36.25 in; the value is shown as printed.
- TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred MB (2011) sheet lists the same lofts and lies from 3-iron to PW plus an 18° 2-iron; its lengths differ (8-iron: 36.25 in).
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
