How to identify this generation
- A BURNER XD badge with gold XD lettering across the middle of the cavity, above a red insert and a round silver disc.
- The Burner name also appears on these TaylorMade irons; compare their markings before using this chart: Tour Burner, Burner Plus (2008 archive edition); Burner (2009 archive edition); Burner SuperLaunch (2010 archive edition).
What to notice in the specifications
- TaylorMade’s 2007 r7 CGB MAX sheet lists exactly the same lofts, lies and steel lengths for a different head.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
Read our loft guide for a worked example of comparing the numbers, and our used iron checklist before relying on a seller's description.
