Identifying the right model
- Sole view with r5 in red and black, orange dual lettering and TaylorMade script below, two TLC cartridge ports in the raised rear sole and 9.5 on the black sole band near the heel; TITANIUM is printed along the crown edge.
What to check before using the reference
- TaylorMade’s sheet describes a 450 cc titanium head with widely spaced, pre-configured dual TLC cartridges for a neutral flight and Inverted Cone Technology; left-handed heads are listed at 9.5° and 10.5° only, all at D2.
- TaylorMade’s 2005 archive column links an “r5 Drivers” sheet that repeats this table unchanged alongside the Type D and Type N TP heads.
Checking a club you own? These are the maker's published figures for an original build, not measurements of your club, and a source date is not the year it was made. Bending, reshafting or a hosel adjustment changes loft, lie and length, so identify the head by its own markings and have a fitter measure it when its history is unclear.
